LOTE – Chinese – Term 4
Hello everyone. Welcome to the first newsletter of Term 4 for LOTE Chinese! It's a pleasure to share the exciting activities and language exploration happening across all year levels. Let's dive into the adventures that await us in the next four weeks.
Prep:
Our Prep students are gearing up for a vibrant term filled with music, culture, and language. We'll commence by revisiting all the delightful Chinese songs they've learned throughout the year, creating a harmonious journey through language and melody. In addition, our little learners will explore traditional Chinese buildings, immersing themselves in the architectural wonders of Chinese culture. Counting will also take a leading role as they master the art of counting to 20 in Chinese, establishing a foundational skill for future numerical adventures.
Junior School:
Junior School is abuzz with interactive language activities and creative endeavors. Dialogues in Chinese are stepping into the limelight as our Grade 1 and Grade 2 students delve into expressions like "How are you?" and responses like "I am good, thank you." This practical conversation enhancement is paired with creative flair as they design Chinese lanterns, adding a touch of artistic expression to their language journey. And what's a term without a lively Chinese dragon parade? Our Junior School learners are eagerly preparing for this cultural spectacle, ensuring a dynamic and colorful showcase.
Middle School:
In Middle School, our Grade 3 and Grade 4 students are set for a term of assessments and language depth. Chinese conversations will be honed further, with an emphasis on expanding expressions such as "How are you?" and "I am good, thank you." Numerical skills get a boost as they embark on counting to 1000 in Chinese, showcasing their linguistic prowess. The creativity doesn't halt there—students will engage in a hands-on activity, crafting playdough dumplings and even creating their own recipes, combining language and culinary arts in a delightful fusion.
Senior School:
Senior School promises a term of family exploration and global awareness. Our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students will delve into the intricate vocabulary of family members, constructing their own Chinese family trees. This not only enhances language skills but also deepens their understanding of familial relationships in Chinese culture. In the spirit of global citizenship, they will embark on a journey across continents, exploring the geography and cultural nuances of countries around the world.
As we embark on this new term, I'm confident that the enthusiasm and dedication of our students will continue to shine. Let's make the next four weeks a period of growth, cultural exploration, and language mastery.
Best Regards,
Likai Lin
