On Monday 11 September, 140 students represented the College at the ACC Athletics Carnival. It was an exciting day and we were really proud of how the students conducted themselves on the day. There was a lot of anticipation surrounding our new Year 7 students and how they'd measure up with our Junior Boys who finished second last year.
The day got off to a great start and the team seemed to be in a positive mindset. Early results set the tone for the day, so we knew we had to to be on our game. We were off to a fantastic start with Nicholas Bonfiglio and Joshua Wong finishing first and second in their Year 9 Shot Put event, and Jacob Pilkington getting us our first win on the track in the Year 7 Hurdles event. But it was the end of the day when our team did their best work, finishing first in four out of five boys relays, putting the team in a good position to secure the Junior Boys Shield and the Overall Boys Shield.
We had some fantastic moments overall for individual athletes, with the following students placing in the top 5 overall for their age group.
The Junior Boys (Years 7 to 9) were outstanding throughout the day, walking away with the following:
Thank you to our Athletics Coach, Ms Lisa Hopkins and to our College staff Mr Roger D'Almeida, Mr Corey Houwen, Mrs Melanie Robinson, Mr Matt Price, Miss Teleah McKeown and Mrs Jessica Bone for their contribution and support throughout the day. Events like these wouldn't be possible without our amazing staff members.
On Friday 8 September, we participated in the ACC Inclusive Athletics Carnival. The aim of the all-ability carnival is to provide quality sport and recreation activities that cater to all student abilities, and to give everyone an opportunity to represent the College. It was held at McGillivray Oval and included events like sprints, distance, vortex throw, long jump, discus as well as a variety of novelty events for students on the day.
The Health and Physical Education Department provided officials to support the event. This was facilitated by our Certificate III Community Services and Certificate III Sport and Recreation students, to give them the necessary experience in the operation of the carnival.
Thank you to all the students to played their part on the day. We are looking to build on our Inclusive Team through this initiative. If you would like to know more, please contact Mr Ryan Godfrey.

A special shout out to Reece Anticevic (Year 9), who was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her outstanding performance on the court. Reece's dedication and talent played a significant role in our teams success.
Under the guidance of Coach, Mr Colin Driscoll, and Assistant Coach, Miss Raya Thompson, our Championship team roster included the following Year 9 students:
Thank you to the dedicated parents and carers who supported our team throughout this journey, your encouraged and enthusiasm has been invaluable.
Additionally, it's worth noting that 30 of our Specialised Basketball students also made their way to Bendat Basketball Stadium to show their support. The sense of unity and school spirit is truly commendable.
