Musica Viva

On Wednesday the children attended a Musica Viva concert in the school hall.

The group Colours from Home, worked with the children on how music tells a story and how you can see colours and pictures by listening to the music. Celia spoke to the about the colours she sees when playing and listening to music.

Screen Distance

Have you noticed your child holding a device very close to their face? Children (and adults) tend to hold devices closer than print material, which increases the demand on the eyes' ability to focus. Holding a book or device less than 25cm away puts children at risk of developing myopia (short-sightedness) and therefore increases the likelihood that they will require glasses in the future.

If you have an iPhone or iPad with Face ID capability, you can active a new setting called 'Screen Distance.' This displays a prompt to move the device away from the face beyond 30cm.

Another option is to get your child to place their palm onto their forehead and their book or device at the level of their elbow. Remove the arm away and keep the book or device at that distance.
