Junior A Netball Win IGSA Final
Last Saturday at Sydney Uni, the crowd was building early to see the Junior A netball team take on Wenona in the IGSA Netball final. And what a game they were in for!
We knew it was going to be a tight game and we knew we had to show a lot of resilience and grit to win this one. The game was goal for goal and at the half time break scores were tied.
In the third quarter, Kambala were playing so well but ended the quarter two goals down. It was time to really dig deep and show everyone why we had been undefeated all season. The first goal of the quarter went to Wenona which meant Kambala were now three goals down. We needed something special and we got it. A few goals in a row for us and a few intercepts from our defenders brought the crowd to their feet and the cheering really helped bring our girls home. The end score was 30-28 to Kambala!
This game was one of the most exhilarating, exciting netball games I have seen in a long time. The team showed so much heart and courage to come back from being three goals down in the last quarter to win! It was the only time this season that the girls have been behind on the scoreboard. A huge thank you to all of the parents, Kambala students, Senior A netball team, teachers and friends who came to watch and cheer on the team. It definitely helped having such a supportive cheer squad behind us on the day!
A huge congratulations to the team who are not only a very talented group of netball players, but also a very encouraging, respectful and kind group of girls.
I can’t wait for next season!

IGSA Basketball Finals
Last Saturday two of our Basketball teams played in IGSA Basketball finals. Kambala 1 - our Senior A team were playing the undefeated Danebank 1. The girls played an outstanding game of Basketball, some of their best of the season. Unfortunately Danebank were victorious by 2 points. A huge congratulations to the team on an outstanding season of Basketball.
Kambala 8 - our Year 7B team have been undefeated all term and continued their winning ways on Saturday. They had a great win against Wenona 18-8! Well done to all of the girls on a fantastic basketball season.

Senior A Hockey
The Senior A Hockey team faced Pymble at Pymble in their Grand Final. It was another nail biter with the game locked at two all at full time. The teams played extra time and then went down to 7 on 7 and golden goal.
Despite Kambala’s best efforts, Pymble scored the winning goal. Nevertheless it was a great effort by the team. The Year 12 players Cleo Baldwin, Annabel Brooker, Annique Burnett, Polly Kirton, Lily McCowan, Sophie Purseglove and Georgina Randall didn’t quite get the fairytale finish they desired but they have been great contributors to the sport.

Badminton Finals
The introduction of Badminton to Kambala has been successful as numbers have doubled throughout the year. It has been great to see some new faces join this sport. I attended the finals of the St Catherine’s competition and every student said they enjoyed trying a new sport and loved the social and friendly atmosphere of the games. St Catherine’s staff commented on how much they enjoyed hosting the eight Kambala teams.
Three teams played in Grand Finals with Annie Huang and Skye Wells victorious against the STC Shuttle Chicks. Mischa Spiteri, Katherine Lewis and Savanna Kirkwood won against STC Capybaras. Molly Aboud and Erin Allison finished runners up in a close match against STC Cramy.
It was great to see all the teams playing hard in the 3rd vs 4th play offs to earn their 3rd place ribbons! It was great to see their competitive instincts on the court even when they were playing another Kambala team! The girls all agreed the St Catherine’s competition was great preparation for the Term 4 IGSA competition.

The Senior A Soccer team played SCEGGS 1 in the Grand Final and they gave the match everything they had but SCEGGS were victorious 2-1.
The Senior B Soccer team progressed through their matches undefeated and won the premiership with a convincing win over SCEGGS 2.
