Letter from the Principal

It is fantastic to be back at LPS, welcoming our new community members and returning to the familiar faces of our families.

After a term of working in an alternate position with the department, I have learnt a great deal, but I am grateful to be back at Leumeah ready for a big end to 2023 and a busy term of learning.

Thank you

I need to thank Mrs Bromfield and Ms Tickle for capably leading LPS in my absence in Term 3. With events like the 50 Years celebration and the Colour Explosion, along with the day to day running of the school, I know that it was a very busy term and there were some extra challenges along the way. I know that Mrs Bromfield and Ms Tickle focused on the needs of students demonstrating resilient leadership. I congratulate them both on their efforts in ensuring continuity for the school.

Communication evaluation

At our next coffee and chat session, which will be later in the term, Mrs Bromfield and Mrs Stephens will be seeking feedback from our community about our communication methods, particularly with Seesaw. We are in the process of reviewing our school Seesaw implementation procedures and need our community voice to do this effectively. We hope to see you there to support us to make further informed decisions about communication. This meeting date has not been set yet but will be in the second half of the term (after Week 5).

Early to school

I have noticed that there are several students who have been arriving to school prior to 8.30am. There is no supervision for students before 8.30am. If certain students continue to arrive to school before 8.30am, teachers will be contacting parents personally about care options available, so their children can be safe before school begins.

If you are unable to care for your child/ren until 8.30am in the morning, you may need to enrol at the LPS before and after school service, YMCA. You can find out more about YMCA here

Events Term 4

There are many things happening in Term 4. You can find out about what we have planned already by viewing our LPS calendar on the website.

Week 5 is our last Striving for Excellence assembly for the year. Our K-2 Glee Club will be performing. We look forward to seeing you all there.

2024 planning

Projected 2024 numbers demonstrate that our classing structure is unable to be confirmed by the end of 2023. We are in a situation that if we lose just a small number of students and do not match this with new enrolments, our structure planned could change. As a result, we will need to begin 2024 in 2023 classes, until we have a clear understanding of new enrolments to the school and leavers in the new year. The hope is that as the term progresses, we may have more clarity with our projected enrolments for 2024.

We are taking enrolments for 2024, so if you are aware of anyone who may have a child ready for kindergarten in 2024, or new to the area, please encourage them to submit their enrolment online
