National Careers Institute resources providing School Leavers support

For students leaving high school this year, the School Leavers Information Kit (SLIK) can help you uncover all the education, training, and employment options available to them. And the Parents and guardians guide summarises the resources and information available to help you explore all the options available to your young person. It can also help you start a conversation on what’s next with their career. There are also many programs and support services for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are setting out on their journey after school. You will find some of these in this Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people booklet.

Scholarship opportunities for Year 12s commencing tertiary study in 2024

VTAC Scholarships applications are now closed but Year 12s can still apply to Victorian scholarships offered by other organisations. Either by applying direct to the tertiary institution – you can find a list on the VTAC website here – or the Victorian Department of Education website lists other scholarship opportunities for Year 12s undertaking tertiary study in 2024. And in this Scholarships Guide you will find a range of scholarships offered in Australia for students commencing tertiary study in 2024. Students are encouraged to research these scholarship opportunities to check eligibility and be informed on the application process and deadlines.

University of Melbourne Study Engineering and IT: Information Session & Panel Discussion 

– Wednesday 18 October, 6pm to 8pm

This event will be hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Melbourne Connect Building in Carlton to help you discover your pathway to a fulfilling career in engineering or IT. The evening will commence with a presentation by leading Professor and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Jamie Evans, followed by a panel conversation featuring insights from a current student, an academic expert, and a representative from the Co-curricular and Internships team. After the panel discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, alumni, academics, current students, and staff from our admissions and future students team. AIT MasterTalks: Meet the Art Director for Bluey 

– Thursday 19 October, 6pm to 9pm

This Academy of Interactive Technology MasterTalk is with Costa Daniel Kassab, lead art director for Ludo Studio’s Bluey! Join AIT at their Melbourne campus to learn about the career journey of art director and lead design artist, Costa Daniel Kassab, and get a glimpse into some of the main projects throughout his career. Making Sustainable Statements workshop hosted by Collarts 

– Saturday 28 October at 10am

This workshop celebrates uniqueness and originality in fashion by turning bioplastics and other found materials into your own unique sustainable accessories. The workshop will take place at the Future From Waste Lab Hanover House in Southbank and is designed to enable social connection through the sharing of fashion skills, textile knowledge and practical approaches to reducing textile waste in creative and fashionable ways. Part of the Collarts x Melbourne Fashion Week 2023 partnership project, this workshop will use examples of the work produced by Collarts School of Design students (from Fashion & Sustainability, Fashion Marketing and Photography). Find out more and purchase tickets here.
