2023 High School Dance Competition

On Saturday 2 September, the Nossal Bollywood Club attended the 2023 High School Dance Competition (HSDC) at Williamstown Town Hall. In preparation for this competition, the girls spent hours and hours of school lunches and early morning sessions committed to perfecting the dance. Their hard work and commitment paid off with Nossal placing second against 7 schools!

During the competition, the girls made sure to represent Nossal to the best of their ability, cheering for other school's performances and being on their best behavior. This competition was an exhilarating experience filled with excitement, dedication and many memorable times. Congratulations to Nossal Bollywood Club for placing second in the 2023 High School Dance Competition!!

Schools on Stage!

‘Schools on Stage’ was honestly one of the best nights we had this year, from the chaotic rehearsals, the lethal amounts of pink (watch out Barbie), to the wholesome reactions of each and every performer from every school. We started the evening by arriving at Bunjil Place at around 1:30 p.m.–getting off at the wrong bus stop and walking the rest of the way– getting into costume and admiring Kambrya’s tech-run, and the sheer scale of students they brought with them, to getting 2 hours' worth of free-time (which we still spent with each other), to getting Mr Woon to say “Oh, you're from that tute” (sorry not sorry Ms Denman), and then the actual song and performance, performing in front of around triple the amount of people that our theatre can fit. It is nerve-wracking what an audience that size can do to your stage fright, and when it came time for awards, the absolute silence when it came to the audience enjoyment award was hilarious, I am pretty sure that Nossal didn’t hear any noise that night, but we certainly did when we won best song!

Aksh Upreti - Year 9

On Thursday afternoon, we competed in the schools on stage event at Bunjil Place, where we performed "Ireland" and "What You Want" from Legally Blonde the Musical Jr. It was a memorable event, and all the cast had an amazing time. Everyone who worked to create these scenes came together as a cohesive team creating many fun and happy moments. From when the first performance began every person, regardless of school, was cheering and supporting each other. Despite it being a competition, it was undeniable that the teams were encouraging and celebrating everyone. All the performances were impressive, reflecting a great level of ability in singing, dancing and general performance. Before, during and after the energy was so strong with everyone excited, while working together. At the end of the night, winning Best Song was a huge achievement however the best parts were all the interactions with fellow students.
