Welcome back, students and families – and a big hello to all new members of the Northcote HS community, particularly Year 7s who are beginning their high school journey. The new year and return to school can be an exciting time, but we know that it can also be stressful, and some students experience anxiety or worry as they adjust to their new routines and environment. The Student Wellbeing team is here to help. Please see below information about our service and how you can get in touch.

About us:

Our team is made up of year level Student Wellbeing Coordinators and Mental Health Practitioners who work across the school. Students are welcome to drop into our office in The HUB or contact us through Compass to arrange appointments. Our team works with students, families and staff including:

  • Confidential counselling support for students
  • Whole school mental health and wellbeing programs
  • Parent evenings and workshops
  • Financial assistance and referral services

If you have questions or would like to discuss the support we can offer, please reach out on 9488 2300.

Financial assistance:

The cost of essential school items can affect some families more than others. The Student Wellbeing team can provide advice, referral and assistance, including supporting families to apply for the Northcote Thrive Empower fund. For more information see our website or reach out to the Student Wellbeing Coordinator of your child’s year level.

Diversity and Wellbeing Leaders:

Congratulations to this year’s Diversity and Wellbeing Leaders; Maisie Amos, Annie Buxton, Harper Battersby Luca Marcoux-McCaffrey, Maisie Tennant and Harriett Williams.

We were blown away by the calibre of this year’s applicants and look forward to working with these students this year to continue to build a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students, where everyone feels safe, valued and supported.
