Welcome back to the 2026 school year! It has been wonderful to see our students return with smiles, energy, and enthusiasm for learning. The school certainly feels alive again, and we are looking forward to a positive and productive year ahead.
Congratulations to our 2026 House Captains, who were announced at assembly this morning. Congratulations to our successful candidates - we are certainly in very good hands. A big thank you to all students who put themselves forward for the House Captain positions; your willingness to lead and have a go is something to be very proud of. We are incredibly proud of each of you and look forward to seeing you lead with responsibility, kindness, and pride as role models for our school community.

You may have noticed progress on the VSBA toilet upgrade, which is now well underway. The Builders have been busy over the holidays demolishing the old Sutton Street toilets, ready for sparkling new toilets to be replaced. These works should be finished by the end of Semester 1. While this upgrade will result in improved facilities for our students and staff, it does require some temporary changes. We hope that the Barry Street toilets will be complete in the coming weeks, and then we will be able to say farewell to the Portaloos.
As a result of the portable toilets taking up space on the asphalt, we will unfortunately be unable to run East Survivor this year as we had hoped, and our ‘Get to Know You’ Parent–Teacher Interviews will also be cancelled. If you have any information about your child that you believe would be helpful for their classroom teacher, we strongly encourage you to make contact with them directly via email. Maintaining strong communication between home and school remains a priority. The more we know about the child, the better we can support them. Academic Parent Teacher Interviews will continue to run at the end of Semester 1 (June)

Finally, we warmly welcome Ebony Barron and Georgia Newton to our team this year. Ebony will be teaching 12A, and Georgia will be teaching Prep A. We look forward to the positive contributions they will bring to Echuca East throughout the year. Both have already made a great impression on our school in the short time they have been here. Keep up the great work ladies!
I would like to thank you all for your understanding and ongoing support as we work through these temporary disruptions.
We are all very excited for the year ahead and value our continued partnership with families.
Happy Weekend Easties!
