Allied Health

Important update for families – new process for NDIS-funded Allied Health and family engaged tutors working within schools.

This year, BNWPS will be following a process recommended by the Department of Education when engaging with any any NDIS-funded Allied Health professionals and tutors who provide support to students during the school day, and on school grounds.

To meet these requirements, a request form must now be completed before therapy can take place at school.

The request form asks the NDIS-funded therapist or family engaged tutor to provide:

  • the purpose of the proposed therapy
  • the proposed date and time the therapy will be delivered
  • the proposed duration and frequency of the therapy
  • proof of a current Working with Children Check
  • copies of certificates of currency for insurance held by the therapist

Families are encouraged to work closely with their child’s NDIS-funded therapist or tutor  to complete the form, clearly outlining the student’s individual circumstances and the reasons the family is requesting therapy to occur at school and during school hours.

Thank you to the families who have already worked with their NDIS providers and tutors to complete these forms.

If your child is currently receiving Allied Health or tutoring support at school and you have not yet completed this paperwork, the leadership team is working through our records and will contact families as we progress through the list.

If your child is not currently receiving Allied Health support at school, but you would like to explore this option, please email me at lilly.vandyk@education.vic.gov.au and I will send you a copy of the required forms.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this new process.
