Interschool Sport Term 1 

Next Friday we officially begin the Term 1 Interschool Sport competition season. At the end of last term, trials were held to select students who will represent Newlands in basketball, softball and bat tennis. We are very excited to see our teams back in action.

Families can check the Sentral Calendar for full details about which Fridays games are scheduled, as well as game times and venues. Matches will run from 11:30am to 1:00pm, and students will travel by bus to and from the venues.

If your child is participating in Interschool Sport this term, please ensure they:

• Wear comfortable sports shoes
• Bring a hat and sunscreen
• Bring enough water and a suitable snack/lunch

Please avoid lunch orders on Interschool Sport Fridays, as students may not be back at school when lunch orders arrive and will not be able to take them on the bus.

It is also essential that permission is given via Sentral. Students are not permitted to travel on the bus or participate without permission.

Interschool Sport in primary school is about much more than winning games. It is an opportunity for students to learn teamwork, respect, resilience, and how to represent their school with pride. We expect all students to follow instructions, show positive sportsmanship, and treat teammates, opponents, officials, and staff with respect. Repeated misbehaviour during games impacts the experience for everyone and may result in a student being withdrawn from the team if expectations are not met.
