What a fantastic start to the 2026 school year! Everyone has returned composed and ready to take on another exciting year of learning.
Here are some wonderful activities that have already started to take place:
Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten class have all completed their Best Start assessments, which means we can use this data to inform the next steps in teaching and learning for literacy and numeracy. In maths, they have been learning about 2D shapes. The focus for this topic in Week 2 has been squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles. They explained that a triangle is defined by its three corners and three sides. They also noted that a rectangle has two longer sides and two shorter sides, distinguishing it from a square, which has all equal sides!

Year 1/2
Year 1/2 have settled in to their learning environment beautifully. They have also been learning about 2D shapes with a focus on quadrilaterals and polygons, introducing new vocabulary such as ‘side’ and ‘vertex’. In their Big Write, they have shown off how to write a recount, utilizing some fabulous vocabulary. They created a picture to help them with their descriptive language when writing.

Year 3/4
Year 3/4 have hit the ground running and are enjoying setting up for a productive year ahead. In writing, they are focusing on how to be supportive 'break-down buddies' to each other and how to write a useful goal for learning. They thought that working in pairs to help one another was an awesome idea, as they could collaborate on their checklists and targets.

Year 5/6
Year 5/6 have displayed excellent leadership skills by helping the younger students get used to meeting school expectations. They are also demonstrating that they are phenomenal learners by settling into the routines for Stage 3. We have already created targets for reading and writing to ensure that we have a focused approach in these important learning areas.

We are all thrilled for the year ahead and look forward to working together to have a successful year of fun and learning.
