In Visual Arts last week, Foundation and 1/2 students learnt how to make a yarn butterfly. Year 3/4 students completed their radial weaving looms. Year 5/6 students also completed their loom wall hangings. All students did such a great job with their yarn work.
This week all students celebrated the end of year by making and creating craft pieces to take home.
Year 6 students completed the final stages of their ‘Leaving Your Mark’ art project. All students have created beautiful mosaic art pieces that will be displayed outside the art room in the eating area.
Thank you to all the students for a wonderful year, I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday. I look forward to working with you all again next year.
As we entered the final weeks of PE, it was just about having some fun while developing our skills and team work.
All students participated in my favourite activities, Tabloid Sports. This is a multiple of sports skills in a rotation format, where all students get to throw, catch, aim, hit, kick, roll and more in a semi competitive program. Students were in teams of four and for each skill they collected points, at the end of the session we announced our leaderboard. I love this program, because the students have such a great time, while developing their skills.
We also finished off the last lesson with some fun small games, which the children loved.
Once again, it has been an amazing year of PE and learning, and I look forward to next year when we can continue to develop our skills in PE, teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship and socialising.
Over the past two weeks all students have continued to explore the human body through the different body systems. During this time we have focused on the respiratory system, the nose, tongue and teeth. Understanding what happens with the oxygen we breathe and how our body uses this and transports it around the body. Students have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the body systems, and by understanding how their body works, hopefully they will look after their health for now and into the future.
Students in years 3-6 have spent a number of weeks developing their skills and knowledge around riding a bike. They spent a few weeks developing these skills and their confidence on the netball courts next to the school before the 3-4s rode around the footpaths and the oval using their skills in different terrains.
The 5-6 students worked together to ride in single file and then in pairs both on the footpaths and on the roads near the school.
The 5-6’s were due to have their Big Ride Out, but due to the weather, now have their Big Ride Out coming up on December 15th, which I know they are all very excited about.
I love teaching this program to encourage our students to be more active, but also to give them the confidence and skills to ride around their communities and hopefully encourage them to ride to school.
Well done to everyone who participated, for their participation, teamwork and listening skills.
