From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome

This week has been one of the most inspirational weeks of my time here at

St Anne’s College.

As a community, we have had the honour and privilege of listening to seven outstanding candidates who put themselves forward for the role of Inaugural College Captain.

The speeches contained words of wisdom, inspiration and told the story of each young person’s desire to lead the college in 2024. We are so immensely proud of these seven young people who were all exceptional in their presentation.

Following on from this experience, we then as an Executive Leadership group had the immensely rewarding task of hearing from 12 outstanding candidates for the role of House Captain for each of the houses: Montessori, Charles, Majella and Cooper.

Again, we were astounded by the quality and passion for leadership each of these young people shared with us. The successful candidates for both the College Captain role and College House Captain roles will be announced at our end of year college Mass.

Today we practised a ‘lock in’ drill as part of our Emergency Management processes.

All the students and staff were able to follow the procedures and move to the designated safe places quickly and with minimal fuss. Processes such as these allow us to ensure that if there were ever such a need, we are all well prepared for an emergency.

There were lots of ‘sleepy heads’ at school this morning as the School of Wonder Staff

and students came to school dressed in their PJs. This was an initiative from the students who wanted to continue the tradition of a PJ Day in the middle of Term 4. The students were also able to share some of their favourite bedtime stories.

I share with you today the Peace Prayer often attributed to St Francis of Assisi. It is appropriate in these current times of unrest in the world, that we take a moment to

pray for peace.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

I hope that you all have a great weekend.
