Our 2023 Students and Staff - All Together!

I would like to thank our community for your kind words in emails and in person over the last few weeks. As I step out of Beaumaris Primary the warmth and generosity of this community mirrors the welcome I felt as I stepped in.

I want you to know that any challenges we experienced this year have only served to ensure the privilege I felt each day. Clearly this school is strong because of the dedication of our staff, the faith of our parents and the spirit of our students.

Thank you to everyone for our reflections on the direction of our teaching and learning, as well as the incredible array of events our students have enjoyed.

You are an outstanding community, Beaumaris Primary!

The privilege I feel extends to the role I have been honoured to play carrying a very bright torch, handed to me by Sheryl Skewes and I now hand to David Tapp, who I know will lead Beaumaris Primary into an impressive future.

As I conclude I want to reflect on the two photos above. Our new flagpoles will welcome everyone to our school. Once you pass by the flags you find our incredible admin team, Cath, Robyn and Ellie, who have been literally beside me each day.

Thank you, everyone, for this opportunity I carry in my heart.

Our celebration of Mrs Skewes

It was lovely to take the time to be together at last Friday to reflect on and celebrate our Principal Sheryl Skewes as she steps into retirement. Our students, teachers and Lisa Grant, on behalf of parents, spoke beautifully of Sheryl's care and leadership of Beaumaris over 11 years. Sheryl was moved as all students serenaded her with "You've Got a Friend in Me" and "What I Like About You". Thank you, Sheryl. You will be missed and fondly remembered. We look forward to your your visits in the future.

Carols at Beaumaris Primary

A little drizzle didn't dampen our Christmas cheer for last night's Carols. Our students performed beautifully, which is all the more impressive as they had rehearsed so many songs recently for farewells to Mrs Skewes and Mrs Rothberg. Thank you to our PFA for supporting the event with a sausage sizzle and choc tops which were enjoyed by all.

Year 6 Graduation 2023

Last Thursday evening we gathered to celebrate the 7 years of our Year 6 students with us. They really have had a magnificent year with so many highlights from their camp at the beginning of the year right through to Matilda the Musical. We took the time to acknowledge the learning achievements of this outstanding group of young people. Out pride, and that of their parents, was clearly in evidence throughout the night. Thank you, everyone, for such a perfect farewell celebration.

Thank you to Lisa and the PFA

On Monday morning our PFA generously provided a wonderful morning tea as a thank you to our staff. It was greatly appreciated and we were also happy to welcome our newly appointed principal, David Tapp, to join us. We wish to thank the PFA for their incredibly supportive work for our school community over the past year. In particular let us celebrate the commitment of Lisa Grant as PFA President over 6 years. Lisa, you have been outstanding in your support for our school. Your dedication has meant we have enjoyed so many events in that time and the fundraising over that time is such an impressive effort. Thank you, Lisa, from all of us!

Year 5 Bike Hike

The sun came out for the Year 5 Bike Ride and students, teachers and parents enjoyed the experience together. The Bike Hike is an exciting end of year celebration, where students can practice skills they have learned during Bike Ed. Students rode along the local roads, bike paths and trails to Bicentennial Park.

Thank You and Farewell from Bronwyn Fitzgerald

Thankyou for all the support and friendship expressed to me during the time I have spent at Beaumaris Primary School in my role as Acting Assistant Principal. As this was a temporary role,  I knew the time would come when I needed to say goodbye and return to my base school and that it would be very difficult as this community is so committed and involved in supporting the journey of all the students at Beauy.

Your children are incredible and are taught, nurtured and guided by an incredible staff. The whole staff are committed to ensuring everyone feels safe, involved and has the opportunity to fulfill their dreams and aspirations and it is with this support, I know your children will succeed and most of all be happy.

Beaumaris Primary school community will have a wonderful, productive, happy and successful 2024 and I look forward to hearing all the positive stories along the way.

Best wishes

Bronwyn Fitzgerald
