Leadership Report

Many thanks - what a wonderful place and time...

As we approach the end of the school year, it is with immense gratitude and joy that I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you—our incredible families and dedicated students, and the broader community that has welcomed me with open arms.

Since I arrived at the start of Term 2, your support has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I have felt incredibly fortunate and privileged to work as Principal of Marion Primary School.

The warmth and generosity that define this school and community have made my transition seamless and filled my heart with appreciation. I am truly humbled by the collaborative spirit, dedication, and kindness that makes Marion Primary School the place that it is. The love for this school and community is evident in the tireless efforts of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the unwavering support of our families.

I have come to cherish the unique spirit of Marion Primary School and am deeply committed to its continued growth and success. The sense of belonging and the shared commitment to the well-being and education of our students make Marion Primary School a special place. As we move forward into the future, know that my dedication to this school and community remains steadfast. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and am honored to be a part of this vibrant educational journey. Many thanks to all of you!

Important information and upcoming events in Week 9

Now, looking ahead to some important upcoming events:

Monday 11th December, 2023

  • Sports Assembly - 2pm in the Gym
    • Join us as we celebrate the achievements and sportsmanship of our students at the Sports Assembly, and acknowledge their amazing successes this year.

Tuesday 12th December, 2023

  • Christmas Seminar Presentation
    • Only students with parent consent will be able to attend so please ensure we have your permission slip back before Tuesday.

Wednesday 13th December, 2023

  • 2024 Class Transition and Meet the Teacher afternoon
    • This is a great opportunity for students to meet their teacher for the upcoming 2024 year. It's also a chance for them to familiarise themselves with their new classmates, explore their new classroom, and address any concerns or anxieties they may have about the transition. When you collect your child from school that afternoon, we encourage parents to engage in positive discussions and conversations about this new placement, emphasising the excitement of meeting new friends and experiencing new learning environments. Your positive approach and a 'glass half-full' outlook play a crucial role in reducing anxiety and ensuring a smooth transition for your child.
    • If your child and family are experiencing issues with the class placement process and you believe your child is not placed with one of your listed friendship selections, please express your concerns directly in writing to a member of Leadership via email by the end of school on Friday 15th December, 2023. Leadership will then work through any parent complaints in Week 10 and respond accordingly with the outcome.
  • End-of-Year Reports
    • On Wednesday, you will also receive your child's end-of-year report. The report reflects your child's progress, achievements, and areas for growth. We hope you take the time to review and celebrate their accomplishments.
  • Year 6 Graduation
    • A momentous occasion awaits us as we bid farewell to our graduating Year 6 class. This is a wonderful evening where we celebrate their accomplishments and wish them every success in their future endeavours

Friday 15th December

  • Early Dismissal - 2:05pm

Final words...

Finally, I want to express my deepest appreciation for your ongoing support of our school. Together, we are continually creating a nurturing and thriving learning environment for our students and your children. I wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season. May the coming year be filled with new opportunities, growth, and continued success for each member of our Marion Primary School community.

Warm regards,

Guy Walmsley
