Principal's Report

Daniel Webber

Happy Holidays

As we bid farewell to 2023, I feel so lucky to have joined this special community and so privileged to be the Principal of ACPS. I am grateful to have felt so incredibly welcomed by students, staff and families. The warmth and connection that define our school have made me feel instantly at home and as I say to the students “I feel like I have won the lottery”.

Building relationships has been at the heart of my focus this year, and it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know our students on a personal level. Witnessing their growth, achievements, and enthusiasm has been the highlight of my year. We have wonderful kids here at ACPS. I cannot walk anywhere without a friendly “Hi Mr Webber” or a “How is your day going”. Our students are grateful and polite, if ‘thank you’ were a currency I would be holidaying on a private island over the Christmas break. The spirit of our students is a gift to our school. They are enthusiastic, open minded, kind, caring, gritty, determined, funny and overall just positive and fun people to be around. Your children are an absolute credit to the values you instil in them at home and I am very grateful for the way all of our families work with us in partnership to support our students. Before commencing at ACPS I was told that the Warrandyte community is like no other and it did not take long to learn what was meant by that. We are a connected, supportive and vibrant community.  Thank you to all of our families for being an incredible asset throughout the year, providing unwavering support and collaboration.

Another strength of our school is undoubtedly the dedicated and talented staff who work tirelessly to provide a positive and effective learning environment for our students. I could not ask for a better team of people to work with and am so grateful for the way staff have welcomed me into the team. You are a driving force behind the success of our school, and I am really excited to continue strengthening our school alongside you.

I would like to congratulate our Graduating Grade 6 students on reaching the significant milestone of finishing Primary School. Thank you for all you have done for our school. Your impact on those around you, particularly our younger students, is huge. They look up to you, idolise you and want to be just like you. And I want them to be just like you too. Good luck for next year and beyond. Embrace the opportunities that lie ahead, make choices that align with your values, and chart a course that reflects the incredible individuals you are becoming.

Looking ahead to 2024, I am filled with excitement and optimism. The foundations we have laid this year will serve as the springboard to continue creating an environment where every child feels valued, supported, challenged and inspired to reach their full potential.

I wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas filled with quality time with family and friends. I look forward to seeing everyone back ready to go in 2024.
