Volunteers and Parent Helpers Morning Tea

Calling all Volunteers and Parent Helpers for 2023. 

To say a BIG thank you, we would like to invite you to a Morning Tea hosted by the NPS staff on; Tuesday 12th Dec, from 11am in the MPR.

You may have - attended excursions, helped in the classroom, participated on our School Council and Subcommittees, lent a hand at a working bee, assisted with the Book Fair, jumped on a bike and rode around the river, helped with fundraising events, baked for the referendum day cake stall, participated in the garden club, mowed the school's oval or a realm of other supports. 

The staff at Newtown PS would like to acknowledge and thank you for your time, assistance and support of our great school! As a school community, we understand the positive impact that additional parent and community support has on our students, staff and leadership team. 

2024 Student Resources/Book Pack Orders and Parent Payments 

Our Parent Portal is now accepting orders for 2024 Student Resources/Book Packs.

We ask that all orders and payments are placed and finalised by no later than 8th January 2024, this will ensure packs will be delivered to school ready for student use prior to the commencement of Term 1, 2024.

FOR EVERY CHILD

In two weeks, all state and territory AEU branches are heading to Canberra to present the Prime Minister with thousands of signed postcards calling for full funding of public schools. 

Our school is underfunded by approximately $378,000 dollars a year due to public schools not receiving the full funding allocation for public students.

NPS Garden Club News - Community Walk

11 NPS families met at You Yangs for a walk around Wurdi Youang, meaning 'Big mountain in the middle of the plain'. This was to celebrate the grant we received for our native garden development, and our progress so far. More importantly, it was an opportunity to spend time getting to know each other, and stretch our legs, while surrounded by nature. 

What better way than to meet in a place that has been a 'meeting place' for people to congregate and connect for over 40,000 years.

The 20+ students and 5 dogs all did AMAZING!!!! The mid-point picnic included sausages and 'Green banana' muffins with our very own veggie garden silverbeet. It definitely helped us through the second half. It was challenging and fun for all - a great way to spend a Sunday morning. 

A huge thanks to all who came along and signed up for something a little different!

2024 BYOD iPAD Program

In preparation for 2024, our BYOD iPad Portal via JB HiFi is now open for families. As most of you know, our BYOD iPad Program runs in years 3-6 with approximately 90% of students in these year levels having access to their own iPad device to support and enhance their learning.
