What a wonderful way to finish Term 2! Our Prep students have had so much fun learning through hands-on experiences.

In Science, we investigated movement by exploring how different objects roll. We took our learning outside to the nature playground, where students rolled balls of different sizes down the slide to observe how they moved. We also enjoyed two exciting science experiments with our Year 6 buddies. Students amazed themselves by inflating a glove using vinegar and bicarb soda, and later tested whether eggs that had been soaked in vinegar for two days would bounce when dropped onto different surfaces and from different heights. There were plenty of excited predictions and surprised reactions!

In Mathematics, we explored measurement by comparing and measuring the lengths of playdough creations and block towers using informal units. During Buddy sessions, we also worked together on a giant colouring challenge, showing wonderful teamwork and perseverance. To celebrate the end of a fantastic term, we have enjoyed playing lots of fun games together and reflecting on all the learning we have achieved.

Thank you to all our Prep families for your support throughout Term 2. We wish everyone a safe, relaxing and happy holiday break, and we look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for another exciting term!

Year 1

As we come to the end of another wonderful term, we look back with gratitude for the growth, laughter, and learning that have filled our classroom. Every single student has made wonderful strides - not just academically, but in their character, confidence, and kindness toward one another. We are continually reminded of the unique gifts and potential God has placed within each child, and it has been a true joy to watch them flourish.

Throughout the term, the children have thoroughly enjoyed a rich variety of hands-on activities, but we certainly saved one of the biggest highlights for last! To wrap up our literacy focus, we dove headfirst into the wonderful world of A Lion in the Night by Pamela Allen. The classroom was buzzing with excitement as the students collaborated to bring the story to life, transforming our ordinary classroom space into the very places from the book by building their own creative cubby houses! From the Queen's castle to the wild landscapes the characters explore, the room was alive with imagination, teamwork, and problem-solving. Seeing their joy and collective creativity was the perfect way to finish the term.

Thank you to our families for your continued support, partnership, and encouragement over the past semester. As we head into the holidays, we pray that your families enjoy a safe, restful, and deeply refreshing break. May this be a special time to unplug, connect, and enjoy the blessings of family. We look forward to welcoming the students back next term, refreshed and ready for more adventures!

Year 2

To celebrate the end of a fantastic term, our Year 2 students enjoyed a special afternoon making pancakes. The excitement was high as everyone worked together to help prepare their delicious treats. It was wonderful to see such great teamwork, with students encouraging each other and sharing responsibilities throughout the activity.

They also made sure that lots of our teachers received some yummy pancakes too! Of course, the best part was enjoying the pancakes together at the end! It was a lovely way to celebrate all the hard work and learning that has taken place this term.

Alongside our cooking fun, students have also been busy creating colourful name crafts. This activity gave everyone the opportunity to practise their fine motor skills while carefully cutting and decorating. Students showed excellent attention to detail and took great pride in making their work unique and creative.

Miss Johnson and I have been so impressed with the effort, cooperation, and creativity shown by our Year 2 students. It has been a wonderful term filled with learning, growth, and plenty of fun. We wish all our families a relaxing break and look forward to another exciting term ahead!

Year 3

Year 3 have had a wonderful finish to Term 2! One of the most significant moments of the past fortnight was farewelling Arthur as he begins a new adventure at his new school. Arthur has been part of our King's College family since Kindergarten, and while we are excited for the opportunities ahead of him, we will miss him very much.

To celebrate the many years of friendships and memories he has shared with our class, each student wrote Arthur a special letter. We bound these together into a memory book for him to keep, and spent some time sharing the things we admire about him and will miss most. Arthur even had the honour of sitting on a "throne" while his classmates shared their memories and well wishes. It was a very special afternoon and a wonderful reminder of the caring community we have built together in Year 3.

In Humanities, students have been busy researching neighbouring countries of Australia and creating informative slideshows to showcase their learning. They have developed valuable research skills while learning about different cultures, climates, landmarks and ways of life throughout our region.

We've also had plenty of fun along the way! Our Mental Maths sessions have become even more engaging with the addition of Velcro dartboards, which have helped us practise our number skills in a hands-on and exciting way. We also played The Unfair Game to revise our learning about Australia and its neighbouring countries. As the name suggests, it was definitely unfair at times, but it gave us lots of laughs and plenty of opportunities to demonstrate just how much we have learned this term.

The last few weeks have also involved a range of assessments across the curriculum. It has been incredibly rewarding to see the growth each child has made throughout the semester. Whether academically, socially, emotionally or in their confidence as learners, every student has something to be proud of.

Thank you to all of our Year 3 families for your support throughout a busy and successful term. I hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break over the holidays, and I look forward to welcoming the children back refreshed, rested and ready for another exciting term of learning.

Year 4

What a wonderful and action-packed term it has been in Year 4!

Throughout the term, our students have enjoyed many exciting events and opportunities. From welcoming special visitors on Grandparents Day to showing our support during the Big Freeze, participating in Winter Sports, celebrating Mother's Day, and challenging ourselves at Cross Country, there has certainly been plenty happening. We were also privileged to attend performances at the Lighthouse Theatre, where students were inspired by the talent and creativity on display.

Amid all the excitement, our Year 4 students have worked incredibly hard in the classroom. In Mathematics, we explored units of measurement through hands-on cooking activities, putting our measuring skills to the test while creating delicious treats. We also investigated time, using giant clocks on the ground to develop our understanding of reading and calculating time in a fun and active way.

In English and Inquiry, students learned about the experiences of refugees and developed empathy and understanding through meaningful discussions and activities. This learning was complemented by a novel study, which inspired students to strengthen their narrative writing skills. We were impressed by the creativity, imagination, and growth students demonstrated in their writing throughout the term.

We are incredibly proud of all that our Year 4 students have achieved this term. Their enthusiasm, resilience, and willingness to embrace new challenges have made Term 2 a fantastic success. We wish all families a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved holiday break and look forward to another exciting term ahead!

Year 5

As we finish the term, Year 5 have been working on some very exciting projects. In Health, to finalise our unit on Healthy Eating, we have been producing a picture story book for the Year 1 students. In our books we have included information about what to include in your diet if you are eating well. We have also included information about what might be unhealthy choices.

Many students have created cute and imaginative characters to help tell their stories and to engage their young audience. Some students have hand drawn their books and many have used Google Images to accompany their text. We really look forward to presenting our books to the Year 1 class next term.

For Science, as our unit on States of Matter comes to a close, we have been creating board games for our classmates to play. We have been able to do this individually or in small groups. The board games have needed to show all the knowledge we have learnt about States of Matter in a game format. Then, when we have made them, we really enjoyed playing each other's games.

As an extra component to this, Mrs Robertson has asked us to assess each other's games. We have a special criteria sheet that we have to fill in when we have played a game, marking whether and how the game has taught us about States of Matter. It has been a very interesting experience to have to assess each other's work and has certainly made us think more carefully about what we have included in our games.

We are really looking forward to the holidays after we have worked so hard.

Year 6

Christian Studies

Year 6 has been working very hard to extend their biblical knowledge. We have been creating posters about the Gospel. The purpose of these posters is so that students can deepen their understanding of the Gospel. These posters have helped students to understand Jesus’ sacrifice and love even more. Students have also learnt the meaning of the Gospel and why it is such good news. By diving into Bibles, researching and learning, Year 6 have found many reasons why the Gospel is so important.

Food Tech

The Year 6 students wrapped up their Food Technology journey for the semester with a fun and creative challenge inspired by the popular Is It Cake? show.

Students put their baking and decorating skills to the test, creating cakes disguised as everyday objects. This year's masterpieces included a Bible, a LEGO brick, a Fortnite-themed creation, and a pizza. The results were so impressive that it was hard to tell what was real and what was cake! Can you tell which is which? Some might say they absolutely nailed it!

A huge congratulations to all of our budding bakers for their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the semester. Great job, Year 6s! We hope you enjoyed your Food Technology adventures and look forward to seeing what you create in Wood Technology next semester.
