Student Communication During School Hours

To support student wellbeing, safety and the smooth operation of the school day, we would like to remind families that students are not permitted to contact their parents or carers directly using personal electronic devices, including mobile phones, smart watches or other communication-enabled technology, during school hours.

If a student becomes unwell, needs to leave early or there is any other matter requiring contact with home, this will always be facilitated through the school office. Likewise, if a parent or carer needs to contact their child during the school day, they should do so by contacting the school office, and staff will ensure the message is passed on promptly.

We ask families to support this process by reminding students not to use personal devices to call, text or message home while at school.

Please be aware that any student who uses personal technology to contact a parent or carer during school hours, without the approval of a staff member, will receive a two-week ban from bringing personal technology to school, in line with our school policy.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain a safe, consistent and well-managed learning environment for all students.

3–6 Movie Day

We are excited for our upcoming 3–6 Movie Day! Students in Years 3–6 will be heading to the movies to enjoy Minions and Monsters on Wednesday July 1.

Students are required to wear their full school uniform and comfortable walking shoes. Prior to leaving school, students will eat their recess in their classrooms before walking to the cinema with their teachers.

This promises to be a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate a successful semester, enjoy time with their peers and create lasting memories. We are looking forward to a fun-filled day together!

Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 student reports have now been released through the Sentral Parent Portal.

We encourage all families to log into the Sentral Portal App and access a copy of their child's report. Reports provide valuable information about your child's learning progress and achievements throughout the semester.

If you experience any difficulties accessing your child's report, please contact the school office and ask to speak with Miss Russell, who will be happy to assist.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Hurstville Public School

We are excited to celebrate NAIDOC Week at Hurstville Public School next week and provide students with meaningful opportunities to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives.

Students will participate in The Country Program, which focuses on the local Aboriginal land on which our school is located. Throughout the program, students will explore local landmarks, plants, animals and waterways while developing an understanding of their significance.

Students will also learn about:

  • The colours and symbols of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags
  • The importance of an Acknowledgement of Country
  • The significance of a Welcome to Country
  • The differences between these important cultural practices

As part of the experience, every student will have the opportunity to create and paint their own individual piece of artwork to take home.

The program will run over four days during Week 11.

We look forward to celebrating NAIDOC Week together and deepening our understanding of Australia's First Nations peoples and cultures.
