Message from the Principal
Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,
Welcome to term 3 and a special welcome to the new families who have joined our community this term. I do hope that your child/ren had a good break over the winter holidays and that you were able to have a break.
Schools never really stop, and we had landscaping projects completed over the holiday including the much-needed prep ‘bank’ redevelopment and replacement of the steps in between Level 1 and 2. Thank you to the EEPS staff who assist with these projects.
Year 3 and 4 Portables
After a lengthy process of restoration, I am very pleased to announce that 3G and 3H have returned to their classrooms and Japanese classes have returned to their normal routines and locations. Thank you to everyone who has supported the school whilst we have repaired what originally seemed like a small water leak.
NAIDOC Week
Last week was NAIDOC week, which comes reasonably soon after Reconciliation Week. Thank you to Mrs James for preparing resources and activities for classes to acknowledge this and to understand its purpose a little more.
Enrolments
I am very pleased with the very strong enrolments for prep in 2027. As we are getting towards the end of the enrolment window, and we have a very large number of applications from out of zone families, please remember, if you haven’t’ yet, to get your enrolment form in for a sibling. This makes our planning much easier and smoother. Whilst our teaching and learning is solidly focused on 2026 the final prep enrolment numbers is the first, and important piece of the 2027 planning process for the school.
Industrial Action
In case you haven’t heard there is to be a continuation of industrial action this term. Some of this, like last term, won’t have a direct impact on you as parents, whilst others will. There is a planned strike for Thursday 23 July. I will communicate as soon as I can when I have the full picture of the impacts, which I currently do not. However, as I said last time, we all need to respect different views and approaches on this and acknowledge that I may be the messenger but I am not making decisions regarding what these actions are or are not.
Lunch Eating Spots
This week the classroom teachers have revised the lunch eating spots for children who haven’t finished their lunches inside. Whilst we have some flexibility, there are designated spots, this helps to keep the yard cleaner but also allows safer movement of students and adults around the school.
Concert - Call for Helpers
Please scan the ‘concert’ tab of the newsletter as we need volunteers and if you can offer to help prepare props and costumes that would be most gratefully appreciated.
Mini Friday Afternoon Working Bees
We are hosting two mini-Friday afternoon working bees this term - Friday 31st July and Friday 21st August 2:00-4:00pm, to continue the work in the fairy garden. If you are available, then please let the school office know or Mrs Jackson - thank you!
Please read this newsletter!
Thank you for reading the weekly newsletter! We do try and consolidate lots of information about school activities, developments and dates into the weekly newsletter. Please make time to glance over it every week.
There are a lot of things coming up this term so, as always please remember to keep up-to-date with Compass newsfeeds and events as well.
We are off to a great start in the term. Have a great first week back of Learning and Growing Together.
Kind regards
Warren Lloyd
Principal
