Community Support Services
Parent Connect Session
On the 8th November, our college held another successful Parent Connect @ HPSC session.
Parent Connect sessions are an integral part of our commitment to fostering strong relationships between the school, parents, and the wider community. These sessions serve as a platform for parents to strengthen the bond between school and home.
Local community organisations attend Parent Connect sessions to provide valuable resources and support, share information about their services, and collaborate with parents and the school in addressing various educational and community needs. These organisations often play a crucial role in enhancing the overall wellbeing and success of the students and families within the school community.
This month we invited the Afghan Women’s Organisation to attend and discuss with families how they can support them in the community. The Afghan Women's Organisation Victoria provide specialised support services for recently arrived Afghan women and girls. The organisation provides a wide range of services and support to help strengthen and empower Afghan women and girls, these range from referral support, conversational English classes, sewing classes, weekly information sessions and capacity building programs, weekly community kitchens, a community hub drop-in centre, outreach services, excursions and other community connection programs.
Next month, will be held on Wednesday the 13th December at 2pm. Training Wheels will come out and talk to families about all the basics of driving, from attitude and behaviour while driving, crash avoidance space, other road users, road law, mobile phone use and more. The presentation is designed for high school students and their parents so that they become low risk drivers and understand safe driving in Australia. Parents and students are welcome to attend.
