BYOD Year 3 - 2024

Commencing in Term 1, 2024 Year 3 students are invited to take part in the “Bring Your Own Device Program”. Parents, please note that the designated device is a Chromebook and not any other device. Other devices (not a Chromebook) do not support all of the educational websites we use.

Chromebooks assist us to move to more of a cloud-based computing platform and provide a 21st-century learning environment. This promotes creative thinking, collaboration and communication among students while giving them access to whatever it is they need.

If you would like to read more about why Chromebooks are our designated device please click on the article; Chromebooks vs. Laptops which is the best for students?

Current Year 2 parents are asked to refer to the BYOD information letter that was shared this week.  Click on this link to view:

Swimming Carnival

Our annual school Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 24th November at Caringbah Leisure Centre for students in Years 2-5. This event is classified as a normal school day and all students are expected to attend. We look forward to parents volunteering their assistance at this event. Please ensure that you have completed all the event registration forms for your child prior to this event.

Kindergarten and Year One students will participate in fun and fitness activities on this day assisted by our Year Six students.

Student Leadership 2024

At Our Lady of Fatima, we believe all students are provided with opportunities to display and develop leadership qualities throughout their years at school. We offer students the chance to explore their potential for personal growth and leadership through working with others, developing teamwork and showing a commitment to their school and parish in order to continually improve the school community.

This term our Year 5 students are given the opportunity to reflect on the qualities of leadership and are encouraged to nominate themselves for the role of School and Vice Captain in 2024. They are also able to nominate themselves for Sports Captain or one of the Year 6 leadership teams at the beginning of 2024. This gives them a real and active way to live out our school motto: “To Love and Serve under your Protection”.

Students wishing to nominate themselves for a School Captain position are encouraged to do this in writing to Mrs Clay by Friday 17th November 2023.

GERRIC - Gifted students programs

New South Wales University GERRIC Gifted Student Programs are offered to gifted and talented students (students who can perform in the top 10% of their age-peers), in Years 3 - 10 at Australian primary, middle or secondary school. This is a school holiday program that expands the minds of bright, inquisitive individuals looking for an intellectual challenge that is more demanding and more fun than they may sometimes experience at school.

GERRIC Student Programs open a student's mind to abilities they may not have known they possessed. At UNSW, gifted students meet others who share their interests and they are taught by educators who love working in this field. The programs are offered on the UNSW campus and give students the opportunity to work on a small project.

For more information on course topics, and to purchase  January 2024 Student Programs tickets please access the NSW Gerric website.
