9-12 Community News

As we hit the halfway point of the term, our students are focussing on the final challenges and events of the year.

After their final day of celebrations, the Year 12s set their sights on their exams with many students returning to the Tolle Lege to finalise their preparations. Exams began on Tuesday with English, and will continue for the next three weeks. Other students have already taken the next step into their careers. We wish all of our 2023 Year 12s the best as they pursue their chosen pathways.

While we have seen the end of one group’s journey at St Augustine’s, others are continuing and setting their eyes on their new goals and challenges.

In the coming weeks, our Year 11 students will have the opportunity to attend seminars with the Success Integrated group, who will be talking to our students about setting their goals for future pathways, building their study skills and leadership qualities.

We have been fortunate to team with a partnership between Kyabram District Health, Echuca Regional Health, Campaspe Family Violence Action Group and Campaspe Shire Council to be asked to host a performance from Queensland’s Mashed Theatre Company.  Our Years 9 and 10 students will have the opportunity to experience a performance of the play, Toxic, which tackles issues surrounding vaping, substance abuse, toxic masculinity, relationships and responsible choices, leaving students with a powerful message and opening the door to conversations surrounding responsible choices.

Congratulations to Sharni, Shanikka and Ruby, whose Years 9/10 Ag/Hort presentation won the regional final of the Cows Create Careers program and now puts them in the running for top spot in the State level competition.

Next week we will hold our annual College Arts & Design Technology Exhibition, with a huge array of student work from all year levels across the College on display. We invite all members of the 9-12 Community to come along to see the work of our many talented students.

As we enter the second half of the term, our students continue to strive to achieve their best in all aspects of their classes.

Years 10 and 11 students will soon be turning their attention to their final assessments and the end of year examination period, which commences on November 27th and continues through to December 6th. The exam timetable will be shared with students in the coming weeks.

And, for our 2024 VCE students, the Early Commencement Program (ECP) will be held from December 7th to 15th. Details of the booklist and second hand book sales will be made available to students and families today.

We encourage all members of the 9-12 Community to continue the term with energy and positivity, strength and kindliness.
