Foundation

On Thursday 19th October, the Foundation students were privileged to attend the Pevan and Sarah concert at Riverlinks Westside in Mooroopna. The students travelled together via bus, full of excitement and dressed in their Pevan ears, ready to sing and dance! The students enjoyed singing and dancing along to all their favourite Pevan and Sarah songs with all their other Cub Club members.  After travelling back to school the students enjoyed a hot chip picnic to celebrate such a special day. The students were shouting "This was the best day ever!" for many days after.

Years 1 and 2

Years 1 and 2 students have been busy learning about 'Forces' in Inquiry.

We can identify the difference between a push and a pull, that a push moves away from us and a pull moves towards us.

Students have experimented when pushing air through a straw and pulling when playing tug of war. We have looked at the effect of force and gravity, building ramps for toy cars to travel along and dropping eggs and paper from a height.

We have been enjoying both eating and learning in our new courtyard area. Students have been able to eat recess and lunch on the new decking area and play learning games out in this area as well. The sunshine last week provided us with a great opportunity to trace around our bodies with chalk and draw in various organs and muscles we have been learning about in Year 1 Literacy.

Year 2 students have been learning about persuasive text types and persuasive devices used to convince the reader of a particular point of view.

In mathematics, students are practicing their counting and place value fluency using games, charts and concrete resources. Year 2 students are encouraged to teach someone at home how to play the game 'Bullseye', so make sure you ask and have a go at playing together at home!

We were excited to welcome our special visitors to our learning area yesterday for Grandparents and Special Friends Day.
