SPANISH NEWS

¡Hola!

In Spanish, Prep students are delving into the exciting world of animals. We’ve been learning about some cool creatures like dogs, cats, and even kangaroos.

We’ve sung and danced to songs related to these animals. What’s more, we’ve taken out our cameras and have captured special moments with animals in our class with VR. You can check out the photos we took in this link [https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-HsvhILAy0jBFxCUE_OvhJ-0eaTsL1fR].

I’m sure they’ll be excited to see their own animal adventures and continue practicing animals in Spanish with you.

Adios, hasta pronto!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS

NOVEMBER IS WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH AT SMPPS

Healthy habits start early and at SMPPS, November is Walk to School month!

We know physical activity is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, and with the weather warming up it’s a great opportunity for families to walk, ride, skate or scoot to school – encouraging physical activity and reducing congestion on our roads at drop off and pick up time.

In partnership with the City of Port Phillip, we’ll have activity trackers in classrooms; teachers’ healthy eating and exercise tips; certificates and great prizes for the classes with the most riding/walking/skating/scooting for the month; as well as a special ‘Healthy Start’ Breakfast Club takeover on Wednesday 15 November – featuring healthy breakfast options and even a smoothie bike!

We will need some parent helpers for this event to run smoothly. If you’d like to volunteer for the morning, please contact our Breakfast Club co-ordinator Helen on 0402227881.

Walk to School Month is kicking off in the City of Port Phillip with local schools encouraging students to walk, ride or scoot to and from school! Students who walk, ride or scoot every day of the month will be awarded a certificate from the City of Port Phillip, with other prizes up for grabs. Getting kids into the habit of walking, riding or scooting to school helps them feel great now and leads to healthy, active lives into the future. Plus, getting active is even more fun when we do it together! Walking, riding or scooting to and from school is a great way to connect with family and friends!

The City of Port Phillip encourages this program as walking, riding or scooting to school instead of driving is great for our health, our environment and for our community. It helps to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution and encourages kids to connect with their community.

It is also ok to only walk part of the way! If you can’t walk, ride or scoot the whole way, feel free to try parking the car a few blocks from school and walk, scoot or ride the rest of the way.
