Our Awesome Grade 2 Excursion to TwistED Science!

By 2B

On Wednesday, the Grade 2s went on an excursion to TwistED Science. We had to take a bus to Moorrabin which took 30 minutes. When we got to TwistED Science, we sat down and listened to an instructor.

Then, 2B got to head downstairs first, where we explored the floor activities. We started in the green zone. One of the floor activities was a bubble room, where you could make big bubbles and even put somebody inside a bubble! Another activity was the paper plane shooter, where we got to make a paper plane and then shoot them through rings and at targets. There was a sand sculptor that projected a picture down and made it look like a landscape.

Then we got to the move to the blue zone, where there were even more fun activities! There was a rope maze, where you were attached to one of the coloured ropes and you had to follow your colour - while avoiding all the other people in the maze! Another favourite was the room full of tubes. You inserted a ball and the ball got carried by air through the tubes and you had to see where it would come out - and maybe even catch it. Our final moment downstairs was taking a group photo in the upside down room.

After a snack break, we went to the workshop and learnt about a balloon popper, and had to try to catch pom poms. We looked at magnets and sorted materials from a bag into magnetic and non-magnetic items. At the end of the workshop, two students, Arlen and Clara got to put their hands on a static electricity machine. While they were touching it, their hair went all crazy and stood up high.

2C and 2A had the opposite day to us. They started with their workshop then got to explore the areas downstairs. Everybody in Grade 2 loved the excursion! It was super duper fun and we were all sad to leave. Thank you to all the helpers who came along for the day!
