CURRICULUM FOCUS

Subtraction problems can be worded, and we are exploring this this week.

For example: Bree had eight marbles, but she lost five at morning tea. How many does she have left to play with at lunch?

The challenge is figuring out the number question that is being asked, then solving the number problem itself.

VOCABULARY

Worded question: A question written out in words.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

In the car ride to do groceries, make up subtraction questions for each other.

For example, I can see five people riding their bikes. One person stops riding, how many people are still riding?
