From The Team

It may be the final stretch of the year, but our Year 5/6 students still have plenty of exciting learning ahead!

Students have begun planning and writing their Graduation timelines and speeches, while our Year 5s are preparing their 2026 Captaincy speeches - a wonderful opportunity to show leadership and reflect on their growth this year.

Our final PONT unit is coming to a close, and we couldn’t be prouder of the creativity, teamwork and innovation shown throughout. In Maths, we’ve been wrapping up our work on Volume, Capacity and Mass, and it’s been fantastic to see the progress students have made in applying formulas, reasoning through problems, and using real-world examples to deepen their understanding. Students have worked hard this year in our PONT classes and we could not be prouder!

A special congratulations goes to Kai, Rohith and Tommy, who took out the top spot in our Shark Tank Expo with their impressive invention, The Unstubbable 3000!

Looking ahead, our Reading sessions will take us back in time as we explore the fascinating worlds of Greek Mythology and Ancient Rome. Students will uncover classic myths, heroes and historical connections that have shaped storytelling and culture for centuries.

It’s shaping up to be a strong and exciting finish to an incredible year!

Shark Tank Expo

On Thursday the 6th of November, the 5/6 cohort shared their Shark Tank inventions with every class. They worked hard for every Integrated Studies session to make their prototypes good, and then make them better! We started with preps, and moved onto the 1/2s, 3/4s and finished off with the parents! Every student and parent who came with a gold coin donation got to vote for any groups they wanted, as long as they had the gold coins to vote.

That day we were to wear full business attire so we could look presentable and clean. Everyone - including teachers - wore their best clothing so all parents and students would know how much we tried to make it all happen!

In the morning we had a group meeting to discuss what would happen. We grabbed our prototypes, and walked over to the hall to set up our stalls. After we set up, a class would come in. At first everyone would sit on the floor to listen to 3 or 4 groups present their pitch, then we went to our tables to showcase our prototype. At the end, the class would vote for who they liked. Overall Shark Tank was lots of fun for both the 5/6s and the rest of the school.

House Sports

On Thursday, 6th of November, we had House Sports. At 9:30am we got together in our houses and we sang our chants. Then everybody split up into our house groups. On the oval side was the Year 4 to 6s who were competing in Long Jump, Javelin, Shot put, Sprints and Hurdles. Over on the asphalt, the Preps to 3s did Basketball, Cricket, Golf, Hockey and Soccer. At the halfway mark we had a fruit break, and then swapped over activities. Overall it was amazing and so much fun! When we finished all of our activities, we came back together and it was announced that Flinders were the winners! Then all the House Captains gave out all the ribbons. It was such a fun day!

Girls' Cricket Clinics

Every Tuesday for four weeks, a cricket session was held especially for girls. The session was held at Scoresby Primary School from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. The sessions were run by a coach named Max, and it was completely free. He told us his nickname was "Pepsi". We would play fun games like knocking the makeshift building with soft cricket balls, and bowling games. We would also practise bowling and batting with our friends. We would like to thank Mr Purdon for helping run the sessions.

If you want to play cricket, or just play some games, join Mr Purdon at the Scoresby Cricket Oval on Friday nights from 5:30-6:30pm.
