A note to our 2026 Year 12 students:
Today marks the beginning of your final, most powerful chapter in school. You’ve walked through 12 years to get here, and now you’re standing at the doorstep of Year 12—your chance to shape your future, prove your potential, and finish strong. This year isn’t just another school year - it’s your launch pad.
As you start this journey, I want you to carry with you our four pillars—four strengths that will lift you higher than you think you can go:
1. Work Ethic
Your effort is your engine. You don’t have to be the smartest person in the room, but you do need to be the one who keeps showing up, pushing forward and never giving up. Even small actions compound into massive results. Attendance matters and we expect a 90% + attendance rate from you. Remember the 2-minute rule: If it takes less than two minutes—do it now. Those tiny tasks you complete today become habits, and those habits become the results you’ll be proud of tomorrow.
2. Engagement
Be present. Ask questions. Get involved. Lean into your learning rather than waiting for motivation to magically appear. Sometimes the hardest part is simply beginning—so use this life hack: Just start. Open the document. Write the heading. Begin the task. Once you start, your brain follows, and momentum carries you.
3. Relationships
You will not get through this following year alone—and you’re not meant to. The people sitting around you, your teachers, your friends, your family—these are the people who walk this road with you. Be kind. It costs you nothing, but it gives others everything. Strong relationships make tough days easier and good days even better.
4. Excellence
Excellence isn’t perfection. Excellence is doing the best you can, with what you have, every single day. It’s about raising your standards—not for anyone else, but for yourself. You’re building something important: your reputation, your habits, your future.
And let’s be real—school doesn’t pay you like your casual job does. There’s no hourly rate for schoolwork, attendance or effort. But that doesn’t mean the payoff isn’t coming, because at the end of this year, when you complete your VM certificate, you’re cashing in on 13 years of investment. That’s your big payday. It’s the moment doors open—jobs, apprenticeships, training, independence, adult life. Now is your time to invest heavily in your education!
So make it count!
Make every day a step toward the future you want. Make every pillar a part of who you are. Make every challenge a reminder that you’re capable of more than you think.
Year 12 VM, this is your year. Stand tall. Work hard. Be kind. Chase excellence. And let’s make these next 12 months unforgettable.
You’ve got this!
2026 Year 12 Preparatory Camp
Year 12 Camp Launches 2026 with Inspiration, Connection and New Experiences.
Our Year 12 students kicked off the new school year with a three-day, two-night camp at University College in Melbourne — a memorable beginning designed to inspire, connect and motivate them for the year ahead.
Throughout the camp, VCE, VCE-VM and VPC students took part in a series of professional development activities aimed at building teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills.
Students across all pathways also engaged in a range of educational experiences, exploring different industries to spark ideas about future careers and study options. A highlight was our visit to the St Kilda Football Club on their first day of pre-season training. Students toured the facilities and gained insight into the behind-the-scenes processes and technologies that support elite athletes. They also learned about education and career pathways in the sporting industry, participated in team-based activities and enjoyed lunch at the club. Several students were thrilled to receive signed guernseys from AFL and AFLW players.
VM and VPC students enjoyed a guided tour of the State Library, where they learned about the library’s ongoing role in documenting Victoria’s history. They were captivated by the impressive architecture and significant historical artefacts — particularly the iconic Dome, the original “shushing desk,” and, particularly, Ned Kelly’s armour. They were challenged to use the library systems and engage with displays to find key artefacts.
Another standout moment was the Kurnai Amazing Race through Melbourne’s CBD, where students worked collaboratively to complete tasks, solve clues and navigate the city.
Back at University College, students continued to build connections through additional team-building and preparatory sessions. These experiences — combined with leisure time and opportunities to explore the College environment — were particularly valuable for students new to Kurnai as they formed relationships with peers and staff.
The camp proved to be an energising and motivating start to Year 12, setting a positive tone for a year filled with growth, determination and new opportunities.
