Our senior students have officially begun their VCE journey with an inspiring combination of the VCE Prep Camp to Melbourne and the commencement of our VCE Headstart Program. The past week has been filled with learning, teamwork and skill-building as students prepare for a successful 2026.

2026 Year 12 Preparatory Camp

The students departed on Monday 24th November at 8:00 am and returned home on Wednesday 26th November, after three days packed with new experiences, challenges, and opportunities to develop the skills that will support them through VCE.

The students kicked off the camp with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour and hands-on activities at St Kilda Football Club. This session gave students valuable insight into elite sport and highlighted the importance of teamwork, discipline, resilience and high-performance mindset. The students also heard about the career options which are available in the AFL. Lunch at the club offered an opportunity to connect and reflect on the lessons learned.

The students then travelled on to the University of Melbourne, where they stayed on-site. Time was allocated to give the students time to unwind, explore, and build social connections, strengthening group cohesion and confidence. This was followed by team-building games which encouraged communication, collaboration, strategic thinking and positive team relationships, all vital skills for VCE success. The evening concluded with a shared dinner and an energetic Trivia Night, where students demonstrated quick thinking, teamwork and cooperative problem-solving in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Tuesday morning turned the focus to hearing from experienced VCE teachers about the importance of effective study routines, wellbeing strategies, motivation and long-term goal setting. Students were encouraged to begin thinking deeply about their senior pathways and aspirations for 2026.

The students then walked to Melbourne Central for lunch and to then participated in an Amazing Race. The Amazing Race pushed students to work in teams to complete challenges around the city. This activity developed leadership, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving under time pressure.

In the afternoon, students attended the ACMI Games World exhibit in two groups. This engaging experience exposed them to game design, digital storytelling, and emerging technologies, sparking curiosity and creativity.

The students enjoyed the opportunity to come together as a cohort before the commencement of their last year of schooling.

Thank you to the staff who organised the Prep Camp and those who accompanied the students on the trip.

Headstart

VCE Headstart Program Begins

Following the momentum of Prep Camp, the VCE Headstart Program has now officially launched for all Year 11 and 12 students.

Headstart gives students the opportunity to:

  • Begin their 2026 coursework early
  • Understand expectations for each subject
  • Meet teachers and establish strong learning routines
  • Develop effective study and organisational habits
  • Build confidence before the academic year begins

This early start allows students to reduce pressure, build familiarity, and step into their VCE year feeling prepared, supported and motivated.

The combination of an engaging Prep Camp and a purposeful Headstart Program has set our students up for an outstanding year ahead. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment have already been on display, and we look forward to supporting them throughout 2026.

Here's to a successful VCE journey!
