Those uncomfortable, wobbly anxious feelings...
It’s the time of year where for a number of students it’s the crunch point of exams and assignments.
Firstly, it’s normal, yup normal to feel uptight, wobbly, and tense in your chest about exams, tests, assignments – basically facing something that is unfamiliar to you. It’s your body getting ready to step up and to do it’s best work.
Are these feelings uncomfortable? Yes they can be. But how we deal with them can depend upon the language or meaning we put on our feelings or body responses. If we label these thoughts with unhelpful negative words – guess what happens in our body? It goes down the pathway of thinking of the worst situation possible and then we can go on a downward spiral into Stinky Thinking – not a place we want our minds to be.
If we give ourselves space to sit with these feelings, to be with them – they will ease in time and you’ll find you’ll put less pressure on yourself about them. Just take 5-10 minutes to sit and be in the moment. Then ask yourself, do I want these feelings to stop me from achieving what I want to achieve, or do I want to step up and through these feelings towards being the best version of me I want to be?
