CLEVER CLASS
In Art this term, Prep students have been developing their artistic skills through a range of spring-themed art activities. These lessons have encouraged them to explore different materials and techniques, and express their ideas and observations about the world around them.
To celebrate spring, students created daffodil artworks using pastels and fine liners, focusing on colour, shape, and line. They also made blossoming trees on paper plates, using tissue paper to form blossoms and pastels for the tree trunks and branches.
To celebrate John Paul II Feast Day and our Socktober fundraiser, we used old magazines to create collage art of our crazy socks and our Gannon, Connelly and Topher coloured t-shirts. Activities like this support fine motor development and help students experiment with composition and texture.
We have also been working on a clay project, where each student is creating an animal sculpture. Through this process, students are learning how to shape and join clay, add detail, and think about how to represent features of real animals in a three-dimensional form.
Prep students have been working hard to make sure they are using a variety of materials, techniques, and processes to explore ideas and make artworks that communicate their experiences and observation.
