Physical Education

Term 4 has been a lot of fun as classes have explored some new games as well as some favourites.
Preps have been having a lot of fun learning how to play kickball. They have learnt basic fielding concepts and how to take turns and share the ball.
Years 1 and 2 have been playing various versions of dodge ball and poison ball to work on throwing and movement skills, as well as revisiting soccer. They were also introduced to Handball in modified form to learn about attack and defense when playing court games. Some students even had the opportunity to work on juggling/circus skills due to wet weather.
Years 3 and 4 enjoyed working on Tennis skills, developing improved racquet control and playing modified doubles games. They then explored Handball, looking at how it is played at Olympic level and then learning to play the game. This required working on transitions from attack to defense.
Years 5 and 6 worked on refining basic Tennis skills, developing improved racquet control and playing modified doubles games. They were challenged to exercise control and finesse rather than hitting hard. They then explored Handball, looking at how it is played at Olympic level and then learning to play the game. This required working on transitions from attack to defense, and learning to create space on the court.
They also competed in their final Interschool Sport Fun Day. We had teams in volleyball, cricket, netball and t-ball and the students enjoyed a wonderful day in amazing weather conditions. This was a great way to finish off the sports program for the year.
Well done to all students on working hard this year to develop their skills and fitness in Physical Education.
