Community Wellness

SchoolTV
Overview of this edition
Trauma is a deeply distressing or disturbing experience that can have long-lasting effects on a person's emotional and psychological wellbeing. It can be caused by a single event, such as a car accident or a natural disaster, or by ongoing exposure to stressful or harmful situations, such as neglect, abuse or violence. When a child or adolescent experiences trauma, it can be difficult for them to understand what is happening to them and to process their emotions. It's important to have open and honest conversations with your child about trauma, so that they feel supported and empowered to manage its effects.
This edition has many articles and videos to support understanding around trauma, led by experts in this field. Short clips like “How common is trauma in adolescence?”, “How can I help my child deal with their reaction to a traumatic event?”, “When should I worry about my child’s reaction to a traumatic event?” are great, short pieces of information for parents.
Attendance
This fortnight our attendance holds steady at around 92%. As always, thankyou for your commitment to your child learning journey, being at school is so important for so many reasons, not just academic.
Our Foundation students lead the way with an impressive 95% which is our goal for our whole school. With the end of the school year just 6 weeks away, then 6 weeks holiday, being at school in the last month and a half will be even more important to continue to build those lasting positive relationships with peers and teachers, and finish the year on a high! Thanks again.
