Term 4 Week 6 - 14th November 2025
What a wonderfully busy and exciting week it has been in Prep! The children were captivated during our Butterfly Incursion, learning all about the stages of a butterfly’s life cycle and making real-life connections to what we’ve been exploring in class. Art Day was another highlight our little artists were bursting with creativity, producing colourful and imaginative pieces they were so proud to share. We also took time to pause and reflect for Remembrance Day, showing great respect as we learned about the importance of remembering those who served. It was lovely to see the children’s empathy and understanding shine through. Our preps continue to grow in independence each week unpacking their bags, following routines, and taking responsibility for their learning. The classrooms are always full of busy chatter, laughter, and excitement as they continue to explore, create, and learn together.

Literacy
What a busy and exciting week it has been in Prep! The children have been working hard on their final narrative assessments, showcasing all they’ve learned about characters, settings, problems, and solutions. We’ve been so impressed with their creativity and effort — they should all be very proud of themselves! Next week, we’re looking forward to starting our Reader’s Theatre, where students will bring stories to life through reading and performance. Maths:
In Maths, we’ve recently wrapped up our learning on positional language, using lots of hands-on activities to describe where objects are and how they move. We’ve now moved on to showing and counting numbers on a grid, which has been both fun and challenging! The children especially enjoyed playing board games like Snakes and Ladders, which helped them practise counting, number recognition, and turn-taking in a playful way.
Inquiry/Science
This week, the Preps were treated to a wonderful Butterfly Incursion, and it was truly a magical experience! The students were completely captivated as they explored the life cycle of butterflies through engaging discussions and hands-on learning. They had the chance to observe real butterflies up close and learn about how they grow and change from caterpillars to beautiful, colourful creatures. The highlight of the session was stepping inside the butterfly tent, where 18 butterflies fluttered freely around the children — some even landing gently on their heads, shoulders, and arms! The excitement, laughter, and sense of wonder filled the room, making it an unforgettable experience. It was a fantastic way to bring our learning about life cycles to life and sparked so much curiosity and joy among our little scientists.
Our sunflowers are still growing strong and preps eager each day to see the growth and water their plant.
