Italian

Mamma Mia! It was definitely a busy Term One in Italian with lots of wonderful work done by the students in each year level.

The students from Prep to Year 4 created Fiori Della Pace (Flowers Of Peace) as part of the Lent activity rotations. These were based on Pablo Picasso’s painting which is a universal symbol for peace, harmony and of hope.

The students in Prep had a great start to the learning of the Italian language.

One of the many activities was learning to introduce themselves by saying Mi chiamo…..

They did this both orally and in written form.

Examples of some of their work can be seen in the photos.

The Year 1/2 students wrote a short paragraph about themselves titled Io meaning Me.

With the help of a teacher modelled example, they generated their own personal sentences and expressed their likes and dislikes.

Some of the great work done can be seen in the photos.

One of the many tasks completed by the students in Year 3/4 was creating a profile about themselves titled Tutto Su Di Me meaning All About Me. The students used Italian dictionaries to help them fill in the relevant information about themselves

Their profiles look fantastico displayed in the Italian room as you can see in some of the photos.

The Year 5/6  students were given the task of designing a poster in keeping with our school theme of Brilla Forte or Shine Bright

As a class they discussed what it meant to them and they brainstormed appropriate words, phrases and sentences which highlighted this.

The students were given the option of working with a partner or working individually.

They used Italian dictionaries and online translators to help them with the language content and used various programs and formats to create their posters.

The posters look amazing and they have been proudly put on display in the Italian room and around the school.

Have a look at some of the wonderful and creative posters produced by the students.

We look forward to another busy term in Italian with lots of new and fun language learning activities to be done.
