Head of Learning Support

Learning Support has started off the year working vigorously alongside teachers.
As our school has grown, so has the need for additional Learning Support Aides to join the wonderful team that is already up and running within the school.
Additional alternative furniture has rolled out into classrooms in both the High and Primary School. Items like under desk bikes/desk cycles, wobble stools, scoop chairs, as well as different tables etc, are available for use by all students but provide a particularly important support for a lot of our students with different needs.
Literacy Intervention groups are running consistently in the Primary and High School; students are timetabled into Learning Support with all factors being assessed. The HUB is constantly in use, in multiple areas throughout the day (including recess and lunch times), providing that extra level of quiet and restful place for students to recharge in.
Renee West has joined us this year as our Neurodiversity Coach and is regularly sharing her specialist knowledge with the Aide Team and Teachers in this essential area.
As we finish Term 1, it has been wonderful to reflect on how well an enormous proportion of students have settled into their new year at school. An immense contributing factor to this success is the high level of care and support provided by teachers both in and out of the classroom, and the high level of care and support provided by the Learning Support team working alongside them.
