Year 9 Textiles

Pictured, student Rachel Denbrok created an exquisite and detailed bouquet of flowers for her major Year 9 textiles project. Students have been exploring different 'Fibre to Fabric' techniques and Rachel took crochet to a whole new level!

Year 10 Psychology

After a whirlwind introduction to Psychology, our Year 10 students have switched gears and put their learning into action! This time, they’ve been exploring how our deep-seated expectations shape our real-world experiences—often in ways we don’t even realise. In a fascinating experiment, they investigated how something as simple as colour can influence our perception of taste.

Participants were given different coloured drinks, but here’s the twist—they were all the same flavour! Through careful observation and data collection, we discovered that colour plays a powerful role in shaping our expectations and experiences of taste.

Our findings? Brighter, bolder colours often trick the brain into perceiving stronger sweetness, demonstrating just how much our senses work together!  This fascinating connection between vision and taste highlights the psychology of perception and how our brains interpret the world around us.

Stay tuned for more mind-bending experiments from our class—who knows what other surprising ways our brains are playing tricks on us?

The Live4Life Program

The Live4Life program is a partnership of schools and local councils around Victoria, including South Gippsland and the Bass Coast, that seeks to empower rural communities to improve youth mental health and reduce youth suicide.

The program relies on the support of schools, particularly the Live4Life Crew, students who volunteer to be leaders and mentors at the schools on behalf of Live4Life.

This year our Live4Life crew members are: Thalia Baker (year 10), Holly Brown (year 10), Tiegan Cleveland (year 9), Chelsea Delbridge (year 10), Claire Glasgow (year 9) and Lily Smairl (year 10).

The Live4Life Crew members have been busy this term organising the Launch event for the year 8 students which will be held in the second week of Term 2 which will precede the Mental Health First-Aid training that will begin for year 8 students next term.

On behalf of the college, thank you Crew members for your time and devotion to the Live4Life program for our school. - Mr. Stephen Ross-Bryant, Year 8 Wellbeing Leader
