A huge 'Thank You' to the students and parents who helped us get our float ready for the Parade in the Warrandyte Festival. A number of students painted the treeman himself, while others painted the eggs for the nest on top of his head, and still others made further decorations. A big thank you to our parents Kylie (Zoe and Asher's mum), Carly (Remy and Ella's mum), Nikki, (Ariya's mum), Hayley (Darcy's mum), and Jordan (Lila's dad) - couldn't have done it without you! Thanks also for everyone who was able to make it and walk with us on the day.
We won the 'most environmental' award for our entry - go ACPS!
We finished the term with glazing our clay family photo frames. The students added underglaze colours to their family 'photo', and after that, if they wanted, they painted a gloss glaze over the top. While this gloss glaze made their clay piece go white, once in the kiln it will transform their colour into gloss rather than matte colour. Students who had finished making their clay frame early were able to make a small clay bag-tag and they glazed these too. The clay frames and bag-tags have now been put back in the kiln for the 2nd firing and will be ready to go home at the start of term 2. Super efforts, grades 3 & 4, I can't wait to see what they look like when they've finished being fired!
Students have been drawing and painting their version of Hokusai's very famous wood-block print 'Great Wave off Kanaguwa', from Japan in late 1831. The students aimed to capture the movement of the crashing waves, sea spray and foam, and the mood of the sky, with Mount Fuji in the background. Well done, students, on your fantastic artworks, they look great!
Safe and happy holidays to all.
Kindly,
Julie Clarke
