HOLY WEEK TO EASTER

This week, we celebrated Holy Week at SJV, reflecting on the key events of Jesus’ journey—Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, the Passion, and the Resurrection. Each year level led the school in a response, helping us to engage with these significant moments.

We wish everyone a happy and blessed Easter. May this be a time to reflect on the hope and love of Jesus and what it means in our lives today.

Palm Sunday

Led by Year 1/2 - Reflection

The 1/2 classes led us in remembering Palm Sunday, the day Jesus entered Jerusalem and was welcomed by crowds waving palm branches and shouting "Hosanna!". This moment marks the beginning of Holy Week, reminding us of Jesus’ humble arrival and the joy of those who recognized him as their King.

To help us reflect, the students sang "Sing it Hosanna," joyfully recalling the praises offered to Jesus on that day.

Last Supper

Led By Year 3/4 - Mural

All Grade 3/4 classes have contributed to this Last Supper Mural, now on display in the Brigidine Building hallway. Next to the mural, you’ll find the Gospel passage from Luke, along with discussion questions for reflection.

The Last Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his disciples before his arrest. It was during this meal that Jesus broke the bread and shared the wine, instructing his disciples to do this in remembrance of him. This moment is central to our faith, reminding us of Jesus' sacrifice and the gift of the Eucharist.

All students will visit the mural throughout the week. We invite you to take a moment to view the display and consider the themes within the artwork.

The Passion

Led by 5/6 - Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross is a prayerful reflection on Jesus’ journey to the cross, remembering his suffering, sacrifice, and love. This was led by our 5/6 students, who reenacted the Passion of Jesus Christ through a series of freeze frames, bringing each station to life.

This moving liturgy invited us to pause and reflect on Jesus’ journey, deepening our understanding of his sacrifice. The prayer was enriched by the song "Look at the Cross," led by our school choir.

The Resurrection

Led by the Foundation Level - Reflection

The Passion and death of Jesus is not the end of the story. His Resurrection transforms what seemed like a narrative of suffering and loss into one of life and hope. It is through His triumph over death that we are reminded of God’s unwavering love and the promise of new beginnings.

As we return from school holidays in Term 2,  our Foundation students will lead us in a special reflection on the Resurrection of Jesus.
