STUDENT COUNCILLORS

Wow what a week its been. Last Friday sixteen Year 12’s and two Year 11’s headed down to Albany to compete in the annual Gate 2 Plate School Challenge. The students had an enjoyable stay at the WA College of Agriculture – Denmark.

During the Gate 2 Plate School Challenge the students had the opportunity to listen to a variety of speeches from people like bovine vets, market sellers and up and coming technology specialists. The students then completed a variety of small tests which were all counted towards the final score of the teams. In the end, Harvey Ag Team 2 won the overall challenge, but everyone did very well.

At the end of the stay at Denmark Ag, students had the opportunity to tour the College farm looking at the vineyard, horticulture, shearing shed, calf shed and the robotic dairy.

On the 25th of March the Year 12 students travelled up to Perth, for the RAC bstreetsmart excursion. During that day the students learnt how all the emergency responders help in the situation of a vehicle accident and how quickly an accident can happen.  They also got to hear from people who have had first hand experience in that situation.

This week each year group has had an information session about vaping and what it can do to you.

Over the last couple of Wednesdays, students have been doing some activities outside of the College. Last week a group of students went to the Harvey Swimming Pool for a refreshing dip after a hot day.  This Wednesday it was a trip to Myalup beach for some afternoon fishing.

All of this wouldn’t have been able to happen without the help and organisation from the College. The Student Council is thrilled to have Sally, Oscar and Joey join us as councillors and we can’t wait to see the amazing things they’ll bring to our team.
