Senior School Principal Report

Alexis Watson

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break. As we gear up for a busy term ahead, we are excited about the many activities and milestones on the horizon. This term promises to be an eventful one, with end of semester exams, Work Experience opportunities, the much-anticipated Central Australia trip for our Year 11 students, and of course, the Year 12 Formal.

Cyber Safety and Online Behaviours

We were pleased to welcome the Community Liaison from Victoria Police to NSC at the end of last Term. They conducted an informative session with our Year 11 students on cybersafety and online behaviours.

The session covered several key areas including:

  • identifying coercive or threatening behaviours

  • strategies to maintain boundaries

  • protecting information / privacy settings

  • legal obligations

We encourage all parents to have ongoing conversations about online safety. When signing up for new social media platforms, please ensure that your child understands the terms and conditions in order to protect themselves and their information.

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a safe and responsible online environment for our students.

The Great Egg Hunt

As the new term began, our school was buzzing with excitement thanks to a special visitor who arrived the night before. This mysterious guest left tokens hidden throughout the grounds, sparking the start of our very own Great Egg Hunt!

Students looked high and low for these hidden tokens searching classrooms, hallways, and even the gardens. The tokens could be exchanged for delicious Easter eggs during recess and lunch, adding an extra layer of fun to the first day back.

This activity wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of Maddy Sweeney, our Year 11 Coordinator and the Year 11 student leaders. Thank you for bringing excitement to the first day. We hope everyone enjoyed the hunt and the sweet rewards that came with it!

ANZAC Day Dawn Service

Our college captains represented our school at the Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Ringwood Clocktower on April 25th. This significant event honoured the courage and sacrifice of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served in World War I and subsequent conflicts.

The Dawn Service, which began before sunrise, was a solemn and moving ceremony reflecting the time of the original Gallipoli landing. Our captains joined the community in paying tribute to the ANZACs, laid a wreath on behalf of our college, and participated in the reflective moments of the service.

We extend our gratitude to all students, families, and staff who attended and supported our captains as they represented our college. This was an important opportunity for our community to come together to remember and honour those who have served and continue to serve our country.
