Easter Colouring Competition

In the lead up to the Easter Holidays, the library, in conjunction with Craft Club, held an Easter Colouring Competition. We were overwhelmed with entries as you can see from our wall. There was however, one lucky winner from each year level who received a chocolate Easter Bunny:

  • Year 7: Matilda 7G

  • Year 8: Aerin 8C

  • Year 9: Arke 9C

  • Year 10: Isabella 10H

  • Year 11: Georgia 11D

  • Year 12: Olivia 12B

Congratulations to everyone who entered. It was so hard for your Heads of Year Level to choose one winner. A big thanks to Ms Walmsley, who helped put this competition together.

House Reading Challenge: Book an Adventure

The Annual House Reading Challenge will run from Monday 5 May – Friday 22 August. It is open to all students in Years 7 – 9 and they will be competing in their sporting houses – Maroondah, Yarra, Mullum and Kalinda. Over the 4 months the challenge runs, students will record their reading (books, graphic novels, audiobooks, ebooks, magazines, etc) on House-coloured slips and add them to the House jars found on display in the library. There will be a weekly update of points on social media and this newsletter and at various times there will be bonus challenges students can complete to gain bonus points for their house.

Students who contributed from the winning house as well as individual winners will be invited to a pizza lunch and trivia challenge in the library a couple of weeks after the challenge has ended.

To be eligible to attend the pizza lunch students will need to:

  • Be in Year 7, 8 or 9 and in the winning house

  • Have contributed their reading via the House Jars in the library

  • Be in the running to win the prize for the most books read during the challenge (students from any house in Year 7, 8 or 9 may be in the running for these individual prizes)

For the last two years Yarra House has reigned supreme! I wonder who will win this year?

NOTE: The reading material MUST have been borrowed from the school library and/or the school eBook platform and it must have been read within the challenge timeframe, not before.
