Year 10 Community Connections Program

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to announce that in Term 2, our Year 10 students will begin our Community Connections program. This initiative is designed to cultivate social awareness, develop character traits, and enhance skills through active volunteering and engaging community projects. Through this program, we want our students to understand that they can make a difference to the people in their community, feel passionate about improving the world around them, and make a genuine contribution to their society.
This week in GOAL, our students were presented with an overview of the 2025 Community Connections program and were asked to rank the options they would like to be involved in and explain in further detail why they selected their top three preferences. We will place students in one of their top three options based on student numbers across the Year 10 cohort in each of the options.
Below are the choices available:
- Primary School Connections
- Kindergartens
- Community Garden
- Rickett’s Point Environmental Project
- Photography: Beaumaris Community through the Lens
- Beauie Big Arvo Tea
- Mini-Olympics
- Shark Tank – Sell us an idea
In week 1 of Term 2, students will be informed about their specific volunteering opportunity, and the Community Connections program will begin from Week 2 to Week 5. A small number of groups will be off-site for one or more of their weekly Beyond sessions. For these sessions, an event will be created on Compass for parent information and consent.
We are excited about this fantastic opportunity for our Year 10 students to build meaningful connections and make a real difference to their local community. We’d love for our families to join use on this journey of community engagement. If you are part of a local organisation that could benefit from student volunteers, please reach out to us.
If you have any questions, please contact Sean Leith, Deb Kirk, or your child’s Beyond teacher.
Warm regards,
