Principal's Report

As we come to the close of another busy term, it’s important to reflect on the significance of community and connection—values that have always been at the heart of our school and were highlighted during the Farewell Assembly held on Wednesday for our outstanding Foundation Principal, Debby Chaves. Debby has built a community embedded in support, collaboration and wellbeing, and her leadership has set the foundation for the school we are today. You will find my assembly speech dedicated to Debby below.
Last week, our staff came together for a bake-off after school. It was a great way to have some fun and nurture the bonds within our amazing team. Events like these serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting each other and taking time out, especially during such busy times.
Swimming Championships
Congratulations to our amazing swimmers who advanced to the Divisional and Regional levels of the competition. Best wishes to Will P, Louis S, Kiara M, Eve A, Lily G-P and Gemma H, who will be progressing to the State Championships next term. This is a remarkable achievement, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.
Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences & Progress Reports
It's fantastic to see so many parents taking the opportunity to meet with their child's teachers online at today's Parent/Student/Teacher conferences. I hope everyone has had the chance to review their child’s progress reports, which were made available to families via Compass on Tuesday.
Performing Arts
Congratulations to our Unit 3 Theatre Studies students and staff on the production of 'The Actor's Nightmare' which was held here at the college last Thursday and Friday night. Thank you to Rachel Price for her fantastic work supporting the development of this talented class.
Our Instrumental Music Soiree on Tuesday night showcased the amazing talent of our students, highlighting the dedication and skill nurtured within our Music Program. Thank you to our music team for their hard work in organising this event. Gaining performance experience is invaluable to our young musicians.
Year 12 Jumpers
It was an exciting day week for the Class of 2025, who received their Year 12 jumpers on Monday. These jumpers represent the hard work, commitment and unity they've built along the way, marking yet another important milestone in their journey at Beaumaris.
School Uniform Update
School Council has approved a non-seasonal school uniform. Therefore, students are no longer required to switch to winter uniforms for Terms 2 and 3. Students may now wear either their winter or summer uniform throughout the year. Please note that winter stockings are not permitted with the summer school uniform.
Year 9 Morrisby Interviews
It has been great to see our Year 9 students uncovering passions, strengths and exciting pathways during their Morrisby Career Interviews with external Morrisby-trained Careers Consultants. Thank you to the Careers Team—Steph Martin, Jack Crameri, Andy Farrow and Jody McCarthy—for co-ordinating this valuable program, and to the many parents who attended the interview with their child.
Parents' Association Social Evening & AGM
We warmly invite all parents and carers to join us for a social evening on Wednesday, 30 April at 7.00pm in the MCC Pavilion. This will be a fantastic opportunity to connect with other members of the Beaumaris community, enjoy some nibbles, and experience our MCC Pavilion. Drinks will be available at bar prices. On this night, we will also be electing the new Parents’ Association committee for 2025, which includes the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We encourage your participation in shaping the future of our Parents' Association.
Please RSVP via the link below by Monday, 21 April for catering purposes. We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your continued support!
2025 Curriculum Contributions
Thank you to our families who have already finalised or opted into a payment plan for their children's 2025 Curriculum Contributions. Your support plays a crucial role in enriching the educational experience for all students at Beaumaris Secondary College. These contributions enable us to provide a broad range of resources, programs and opportunities that enhance learning, including subject equipment, resources, supplies, and IT support, enriching teaching and learning experiences.
We are sincerely grateful for your ongoing commitment to our school community.
If you haven't yet had the opportunity, we invite you to contribute whether in full, in part, or instalments. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make a meaningful impact.
To make your contribution, please log into Compass or contact the school office for details on payment options. Contributions to the Building and Library Fund are tax-deductible.
A reminder that the School Saving Bonus cannot be applied to Contributions; however, it is available for uniforms and school activities, which many families have already advantage of this year.
You can read more about how the 2024 Curriculum Innovation Contributions have been used and the impact they have made. We look forward to continuing this partnership in fostering the best possible educational environment for our students.
End-of-Term Reminders
A reminder that students will be dismissed at 2:30pm on Friday (4 April). Term 2 commences on Tuesday 22 April, following Easter Monday, and there is a public holiday on Friday 25 April, for ANZAC Day.
Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful break.
