Principal's Message

Principal Message Week 6 - Term 1
As we move into the latter part of the term, I’ve been reflecting on all we have achieved together. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and commitment to supporting our school, it does not go unnoticed.
Since the beginning of the year, we have gathered as a community for many special moments; our Beginning of Year Mass, Meet and Greet, Shrove Tuesday Pancake morning and PYP Open Morning just to name a few. At each of these occasions, I’ve noticed something that stands out- connection. The wave of recognition between friends, the joyful greetings at the gate, younger siblings running in with excitement, the conversations between parents and teachers, the smiles and simple nods to say hello. These small, everyday moments speak volumes.
I often speak about community in prayers and reflections, but what does it truly mean? Relationships. It is the relationships we build, the diversity we embrace, the understanding we grow and the shared experiences that bring us together.
Recently, I’ve been listening to podcasts on restorative practices, motivation and emotional intelligence. Each one pointed to the same theme; relationships matter most. Restorative practice is not a script to follow; it is grounded in the quality of the relationships we build with one another. Even when children say, “It’s just a joke,” it reminds us how important it is to guide them in understanding the impact of their words and actions within relationships. Another reflection centred on belonging and motivation, that children truly thrive when they feel connected. And as highlighted in our Wellbeing section of the newsletter, resilience is relational. It grows through strong, supportive connections with others.
The common thread is clear: community is about relationships, connection and belonging. As we journey through the season of Lent, we are invited to reflect on how we care for one another, strengthen our relationships and nurture a sense of belonging within our school and in the wider world. May we continue to hold other communities in our hearts and prayers during this time.
