Being Well at Magill

At Magill School, we run a number of whole school programs that explicitly teach strategies to support students’ overall wellbeing. In our last newsletter we highlighted the URSTRONG program as one example of this work. However, supporting wellbeing does not stop at the whole-school level.
In classrooms across the school, teachers support students to develop their emotional, social and physical skills every day. They do this by building strong classroom cultures where students feel safe, valued and that they belong, while also nurturing each child’s individual sense of self.
In Year 6, students have been learning about character strengths and how these strengths help shape who they are. As part of this learning, students created a Superhero Alter Ego based on their own top five strengths. One student discovered that Curiosity was one of her strongest traits and created her alter ego, the Curiosity Queen.
Today we are sharing an article from the Wellbeing Hub that highlights the importance of supporting children to grow and develop their emotional, social and physical skills. The article explores strategies that help children feel safe, secure and connected.
Have a wonderful long weekend and stay well!
