Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...
Over the past week, we have continued our Speaking and Listening unit. The children each brought in or shared an item they love, explained why it is special to them, and spoke beautifully in front of their classmates. Their friends were fantastic audience members, listening carefully and having a question ready to ask. Everyone did incredibly well, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence shining through.
This growing confidence has led perfectly into our English unit on retelling stories. Together, we retold the classic tale of The Tortoise and the Hare. The children impressed us with their expressive voices, clear sequencing of events and wonderful storytelling skills. They are becoming such thoughtful and animated storytellers!
We are so proud of how positively our Preps are embracing new challenges and supporting one another in their learning. We can’t wait to begin exploring our next story together. Stay tuned to find out which adventure we dive into next!

In English the Grade 1 students have been exploring the unit Different Lands, Similar Stories. Throughout this unit students are discovering stories from around the world that connect to three key themes: characters who are treated unfairly but eventually find happiness, characters as small as a thumb and clever, cunning animals. Students especially enjoyed listening to a read aloud of Little Red Riding Hood. They chose a favourite scene from the story to write about and used clues and details to help bring their scene to life. After writing, the students shared their work with a partner who then guessed which part of the story they had described. It was wonderful to see their creativity and confidence in writing shine.

Our Year 2 students have been learning about the history of trams in our Humanities Unit: Changing Melbourne. They learnt about trams of the past which were horse drawn. This led them to the present day where Melbourne has the largest tram network in the world!
Our students then turned their attention to the future by designing ‘Trams of the Future!’ They let their imagination run wild with futuristic features. Let's hope that some of these designs become reality!

Our Year 3 students have been exploring human senses and movement in Science. A highlight has been integrating table tennis into lessons, allowing them to experience firsthand how the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems work during physical activity. The students are loving playing table tennis and are rapidly improving their skills! This week, we learned about inventions that can help with senses and movement such as hearing aids and braille.

The Year 4 students have been learning how they can have a healthy and active lifestyle in their science unit 'Healthy Me.' They learnt about new and creative ways they can move their bodies to stay active with the Fun-Fit in-visit on circus skills. The students harnessed their skills in juggling, plate spinning and trick sticks. Everyone had so much fun developing their movement skills and being active!

Our Year 5 students recently took part in a First Aid incursion. They were highly engaged in the hands-on demonstrations, learning vital life-saving skills such as CPR and how to respond in emergency situations. The students quickly understood these important concepts and confidently volunteered to demonstrate their skills at the front of the class. Well done, Year 5!
In Year 6 we recently had two Life-Ed In-Visits that explored the topic of puberty; the time where your body begins to develop and change as you move from kid to adult. We wanted to thank all students for their participation in exploring this important topic. Puberty can be a stressful time for students and parents alike, bringing about many questions. We encourage our students to discuss their questions with their trusted adults.
If you have any questions or queries about the content explored during these In-Visits please reach out to your child’s teacher.
