Year 5/6 Team News

with Christina, Edan, Molly, Melati, Bianca R & Matt

Hello Year 5/6 families,

Another busy and exciting fortnight in 5/6. We have been busy preparing for our upcoming NAPLAN schedule. Year 5’s have sat some practise sessions to become familiar with the NAP platform as well as typing various texts for a sustained period. During this time, our Year 6’s have been introduced to the ‘Passion Project’ that they will undertake during the 4 NAPLAN sessions over Weeks 7 and 8.

We have decided to bring back a 2025 newsletter favourite: Student Voice Newsletter!

Student Voice- An update from our recent House Swimming Event:

Earlier in the term, the 5/6s and 3/4s attended the WPS House Swimming Carnival at the Williamstown Life Saving Club pool.

It was a fantastic day, especially for the 3/4 students, who had the opportunity to compete in their first house races. Everyone participated with enthusiasm and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.

The carnival included 50m butterfly, backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke events, as well as 25m options for all strokes. There were also games available for students who chose not to compete. Of course, the much-loved BOMB COMP was a highlight!

At the conclusion of the day, the house captains thanked Paddy for organising the carnival and congratulated all houses on their efforts.

Several students progressed to District level, where we were narrowly beaten by Altona Primary School. All competitors represented the school with pride.

The overall scores were:

Ferguson: 2259 points

Gem: 1875 points

Nelson: 1846 points

Reid: 1434 points

Congratulations to Ferguson House!

A big thank you to Paddy for his organisation and support in ensuring the day ran smoothly.
